Choosing the best outdoor table tennis table is for you is tricky.
There are LOTS of table tennis brands and models out there – some are great, some are not so great, and some are… pretty dreadful.
In this guide, I compare 8 of the best outdoor table tennis tables available to buy currently, and give my recommendations on tables in each category and price range – whether you’re a casual player or intermediate, or whether you need a table for public spaces, there’s hopefully a table for you in this guide. Personally, I would be very happy buying any of these 8 tables, and it would just depend on my budget / needs at the time which one I’d choose.
I’ve narrowed this list of 8 down from a list of over 35 table tennis tables available online, to hopefully make you feel more confident in making your decision on which table is best for you.
Note: These are outdoor table tennis tables – for indoor tables, see my guide to the 5 best indoor table tennis tables.

Best for public spaces
Now, if you’re serious about your table tennis game and want to play at the highest level, I do recommend an indoor table tennis table if you have the space for it. They’re designed to be great to play on rather than being super durable and weatherproof.
But if you don’t, outdoor table tennis tables do still hold up competitively if you’re happy to factor in a few extra variables to your game, i.e., wind and a little bit of rain!
When you’re shopping for an outdoor table tennis table, it’s good to compare different models to find one that best suits your needs and budget, and it can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of choice out there.
But here are some of the main factors to consider when making your comparison:
- tabletop thickness
- weight
- portability
- durability
- weather resistance
- playing quality
- style
- price and value for money
These are the factors I’ve used to compare and rank these outdoor tables.

Pongori Outdoor Table Tennis Table PPT 500.2
The Pongori Outdoor table PPT 500.2 is one of the cheapest outdoor table tennis tables you can buy, and yet it still holds up in terms of quality.
It’s the cheapest outdoor table I’m aware of with a 4mm tabletop (anything less gets very questionable), and it has a simple yet practical design.
It’s worth mentioning that the Pongori Outdoor PPT 530.2 boasts a 5mm table top at just a slightly higher price. But if you’re on a really tight budget, this table is very hard to fault for the price!
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 4mm |
Colour | Blue |
Tabletop material | Melamine |
Frame | 35mm x 15mm steel |
Legs | Adjustable |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | No |
Folded solo play | Yes |
Wheels | Yes (lockable) |
Warranty | 2 years |
Price | £349.99 |
The Pongori Outdoor PPT 500.2 is a great outdoor table tennis table for those on a budget.
While there are much better options out there for serious players or those with more spending power, it does the basics better than any other table at this price range.
Don’t expect an elite level playing surface (by a long shot!), but do expect a practical, reliable table to provide great fun with friends and family.
It also has some nice safety features like the lockable wheels and rounded corners. It doesn’t look too bad either in the classic Decathlon blue!
Pros & Cons:
- Safety features
- Solo playing
- Light and portable
- Value for money
- Not the sturdiest
- Thin tabletop
- Only 1 colour option
- Tricky to assemble

Pongori Outdoor Table Tennis Table PPT 530.2
The Pongori Outdoor Table PPT 530.2 could easily be subbed in for the ‘best value for money’ table on this list. But as it wasn’t the rock-bottom cheapest I decided to give that to its baby brother…
Needless to say, the PPT 530.2 is a great deal! It boasts a 5mm tabletop thickness despite being (considerably) under £500.
It’s also slightly sturdier than the cheaper Decathlon table with 40mm diameter legs compared to 30mm.
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 5mm |
Colour | Gray |
Tabletop material | Melamine |
Frame | 35mm x 15mm steel |

Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | No |
Folded solo play | Yes |
Wheels | Yes (lockable) |
Weight |
52 kg |
Warranty | 2 years |
Price | £399.99 |
It’s still not the sturdiest table out there at 52 kg with a fairly thin frame, but the leg thickness does help.
And yes, there are better tables on the market in terms of surface quality and playing experience – but not for under £500!
Pros & Cons:
- Safety features
- Solo play
- Great value for money
- Easy to transport
- Decent table thickness
- Frame strength
- Some parts feel too fragile
- Only 1 colour
- Tricky to assemble
Conclusion:
The assembly of the Pongori Outdoor Table PPT 530.2 isn’t the easiest, and some parts feel too fragile.
If something breaks during setup you should be able to get it replaced, but it will be a hassle and a waste of your time!
The wheels can be a bit fiddly, too, and they’re not the most convincing going over uneven terrain.
BUT, all that being said, you’ll find build quality problems with any table at this price range, and they probably won’t have a 5mm tabletop!
It also has the same safety features of the cheaper Pongori table (rounded edges, lockable wheels and lockable folding system).
I think if you’re going to buy a table under £500, this should be it.
Best overall
Cornilleau 740 Longlife Table Tennis Table
If you’re serious about your outdoor table tennis game, you’ve got a big budget and don’t mind a heavier table – look no further than the Cornilleau 740 Longlife.
It’s my best overall outdoor table tennis table – and FYI, I don’t really factor price into this category.
Why is it the best table? It has a 9mm tabletop thickness which feels better than a lot of indoor tables!
It’s also built like a rhino. If you played on this table for the rest of your life with no breaks, you probably still couldn’t wear it out!
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 9mm |
Colour | Gray |
Tabletop material | Resin Laminate |
Frame | 85mm zinc & aluminium alloy |
Legs | Adjustable |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | No |
Folded solo play | Yes |
Wheels | Yes (lockable) |
Weight | 111 kg |
Warranty | 10 years |
Price | £1,229 |
The Cornilleau 740 Longlife is a serious piece of kit!
Getting the obvious out of the way: at 111 kg, it’s not the most practical.
But the playing quality genuinely feels as good as a 19mm or even 22mm indoor table – which is far better than average!
So if you’re a table tennis fanatic and want to really play at the top of your game (and don’t have space for an indoor table), this will tick all the boxes for you.
Pros & Cons:
- 25mm table thickness
- Top of the range playing quality
- Competition standard
- Safety features
- Will last forever
- Anti-glare coating
- Hard to assemble
- Expensive
- Heavy
- No bat and ball holders

Conclusion:
Despite its weight, the Cornilleau 740 Longlife is surprisingly portable and very safe.
It’s specifically designed to lock for safety when it’s in the upright position, and it also has locking wheels and it ‘bottom heavy’, so as to not topple over easily.
It doesn’t, however, have rounded corners. This is good for gameplay, because it’s the way table tennis is supposed to be played. But it’s not good for little kids running around at table tennis table head-height!
Ultimately, if you’ve got the money to invest, you can’t go wrong with this table! It’s sheer quality sets it apart from other tables even in the same price range.
But if you want something lighter and more portable, there are plenty of other great options out there.

Best under £600
Butterfly Garden Rollaway 6000
The Butterfly Garden Rollaway 6000 table is a great all-rounder and my best outdoor table tennis table under £600.
It has a really good balance between playing quality, practicality and style – all the while being very competitively priced.
It also comes in a really nice vibrant blue. Not everyone’s style, but I quite like it!
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 6mm |
Colour | Blue |
Tabletop material | Melamine |
Frame | Steel frame 25mm x 40mm |
Legs | Adjustable |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | No |
Folded solo play | Yes |
Wheels | Yes (lockable) |
Weight | 81 kg |
Warranty | 3 years |
Price | £599.99 |
You’ll notice that the Butterfly Garden Rollaway 6000 is good at pretty much everything.
You’re paying just enough to get good tabletop thickness (6mm), anti-glare coating and plenty of safety features.
And you still have a relatively low weight of 81 kg with this table – not the lightest, but much more practical than some of the pricier models out there that are more designed towards longevity.
Pros & Cons:
- Very sturdy
- Safety lock features
- Very portable
- Good playing quality
- Quick assembly
- Anit-glare coating
- Pricey (but still good value)
- No foldable net
- No bat and ball holders

Conclusion:
One annoying thing about the Butterfly Garden Rollaway 6000 is that you have to remove the net when you fold it away.
It’s not the end of the world, but for a £600-odd table you’d want the extra practicality!
It’s also not going to feel as nice to play on as some of the other tables on this list – but I can’t knock it as a great all-rounder at a great price.
Best under £1,000
Cornilleau 600X Performance Outdoor
The Cornilleau 600X Performance Outdoor table tennis table is a top of the range table for less than £1,000.
It’s stylish, has a fantastic playing experience, is fairly light and portable, and has loads of awesome practical features.
Its 7mm tabletop is very good, and it’s the cheapest table tennis table I know of that boasts this level of quality.
And as for those practical design features, it has:
- Cup holders
- Accessory holders
- Ball dispensers
- Score counters
All built in!
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 7mm |
Colour | Blue / black |
Tabletop material | Resin laminate |
Frame | 60mm aluminium zinc alloy |
Legs | Adjustable |
Weight | 77kg |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | Yes |
Folded solo play | Yes |
Wheels | Yes (lockable) |
Warranty | 10 years |
Price | £899 |
This is one of the most expensive tables on my list, but it’s also very close to being the best.
The only thing that makes some other tables stand out more is their durability, style, or a tiny bit more playing quality.
But at 77 kg with such a nice playing surface and so many practical features, this is really hard to beat! And I don’t know of a better table tennis table under £1,000.
Pros & Cons:
- Very sturdy
- Safety locking features
- Light considering the quality
- Top quality playing surface
- Anti-glare coating
- Great practical features
- Expensive
- Tricky to assemble

Conclusion:
There’s even a transport handle to help you get it down awkward bumps and steps.
All-in-all, this table tennis table has been designed for table tennis players.
Cornilleau have taken loads of suggestions from their customers from years of designing table tennis tables, and it’s paid off.
Unless you want the much sturdier (but also heavier) Cornilleau 740 Longlife, or the uber-stylish Cornilleau Lifestyle table, I think this is the best out there for all-round use!
Most stylish
Cornilleau Lifestyle Table Black / White
The Cornilleau Lifestyle Table is possibly the most glamorous table on the market today.
It looks like it belongs in a lifestyle magazine rather than a table tennis table guide!
If you’re serious about you’re gameplay (and if you don’t have over £1,500 to spend), then this table isn’t for you.
It’s also not very practical, so that rules out a lot more of you.
But… It looks lush!

The Cornilleau Lifestyle Table is a sophisticated and stylish addition to any game room or recreation area.
It’s the Rolls Royce of the table tennis table world.
With its sleek black finish, this table radiates elegance and luxury, making it the perfect centrepiece for a beautiful sunny terrace – and it looks great by a pool.
Now, having said all that, I think the disadvantages of this table are fairly obvious! (And, most of us don’t have pools or ‘sunny’ terraces…)
Pros & Cons:
- Looks the part
- I mean, it really looks the part
- Bat and ball storage
- Anti-glare
- Fairly sturdy
- Very expensive
- Metal net
- Not practical
- Average table thickness
Watch the video below by Tabletennistables.co.uk to get a better idea of the Cornilleau Lifestyle Table:
Conclusion:
The metal net is just horrible for the game play unfortunately. If you’ve ever played on a table like it, you’ll know how jarring it is for the ball to clang into it every other rally. Having said that, you can easily swap it out for a clip-on net if you need to.
It’s also not on wheels – so you’re really not paying for any kind of practicality.
And although the 6mm table isn’t the worst on this list, for the price you’d certainly expect a lot better!
However, this table sells itself to the right buyers – those that are looking for a stylish addition to their outdoor space while providing some light-hearted fun for the party.
Best for public spaces
Cornilleau Pro 510M Outdoor Table
I think the Cornilleau Pro 510M Outdoor Table is the best value table tennis table for public spaces. It looks so much nicer than concrete table tennis tables, and has a much better playing surface.
At under £1,000, it boasts some really impressive technical specifications for a decent game of table tennis, while being exceptionally solid and robust.
With nice rounded edges for safety and some built in bat holders, it’s a thoughtfully designed table for schools, parks, apartment complexes, or any other outdoor space.
And it doesn’t look too bad either.
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 7mm |
Colour | Gray |
Tabletop material | Resin laminate |
Frame | 60mm steel/aluminium/zinc alloy |
Legs | Non-adjustable |
Weight | 87kg |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | Yes |
Folded solo play | No |
Wheels | No |
Warranty | 10 years |
Price | £949 |
The Cornilleau Pro 510M Outdoor can be bolted to the ground, so it’s suitable for use in public spaces like parks, schools, shopping centres, apartment buildings etc.
The 60mm heavy-duty frame is a stand out feature along with the solid legs.
Table tennis tables in public areas tend to get some rough treatment, so they need to be sturdy, durable and weatherproof.
Cornilleau’s resin laminate tops are very hard wearing. They’re shock resistant, and protect the white lines from fading over time.
Pros & Cons:
- Value for money
- Weatherproof
- Sturdy and durable
- Stylish design
- Safety features
- Playing quality
- Fixed steel net
Watch the video below by Cornilleau to get a better idea of the Cornilleau Pro 510M Outdoor table:
Conclusion:
One of the downsides to this table is the fixed steel net.
Metal nets can be incredibly jarring to play with – the clang of the ball smacking into it can reverberate its way into your dreams if you play for long enough!
And it changes the play of the game – topspin shots are less reliable because they can’t spin themselves that last little bit over the net chord.
You can replace the net on this table, but it’s a bit of a job (you can buy a net conversion kit from Cornilleau), so just keep that in mind.
As for the table thickness – it’s pretty good value for money at 7mm, especially when you factor in all the durability and safety features.
Tibhar 6000 W
Although expensive, I think the Tibhar 6000 W is the best outdoor table tennis table for recreational areas.
It has everything that the Cornilleau Pro 510M offers, but with a thicker tabletop and a more stylish design.
If price is no issue, this is probably the best outdoor table tennis table for schools, parks and public spaces.
Specifications:
Dimensions | Full size: 274cm (L) x 152.5cm (W) x 76cm (H) |
Tabletop thickness | 10mm |
Colour | Black |
Tabletop material | Melamine resin |
Frame | 50mm galvanised steel |
Legs | Non-adjustable |
Weight | 123kg |
Net and post included | Yes |
Bat and ball holders | No |
Folded solo play | No |
Wheels | No |
Warranty | 10 years |
Price | £1,399 |
The 10mm tabletop and stylish design are the best selling points for this table tennis table.
It’s very heavy at 123 kg, and it doesn’t have practical features like ball and bat holders.
But it’s still very durable and sturdy despite how elegant it looks!
And the surface quality is really excellent, and as good as many indoor table tennis tables.
Pros & Cons:
- Weatherproof
- Sturdy and durable
- Stylish design
- Playing quality
- Expensive
- Fixed steel net
- Very heavy
- Unpractical
Conclusion:
If you’re on a budget, I’d consider the Cornilleau Pro 510M Outdoor table instead.
However, the Tibhar 6000 W can offer a splash of class and style to an outdoor space whilst providing a fun activity for the community.
Its thick tabletop maintains a high standard of playing quality, and it’s been designed with the harshest environments in mind – weatherproof, durable and sturdy.

FAQs
What's the best surface for an outdoor table tennis table?
The best surface for an outdoor table tennis table is typically a melamine resin laminate. This is the most common and popular outdoor table tennis table surface.
It provides a strong, consistent bounce, and is shockproof, durable and weatherproof.
The quality of a tabletop depends on the thickness of the melamine resin, and outdoor tables typically range from a 3-4mm resin (I recommend a minimum of 4mm) up to about 10mm at the highest range.
What is the best size for an outdoor table tennis table?
Full size outdoor table tennis tables are generally the most popular, as you typically have more space outside.
A standard, full size outdoor table tennis table measures:
- 152.5cm (5ft) wide
- 274cm (9ft) long
- 76cm (2.5ft) high
The net should be 15.25cm (6 inches) high and 183cm (6ft) wide, and should extend 6 inches on either side of the table, as per the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) guidelines.
Most outdoor table tennis tables for sale are full size as there’s less demand for smaller tables, simply because people tend to have more space outside!
Check out my guide on more table tennis rules.
What is the best outdoor table tennis table brand?
Some of the best, well known outdoor table tennis table brands include:
- Kettler
- Cornilleau
- Butterfly
- Joola
- Stiga
- Pongori (Decathlon)
- Tibhar
How much should I spend on an outdoor table tennis table?
In general, I recommend spending at least £400 on an outdoor table tennis table. Remember, you’ll probably own your table for years, if not decades, so it’s worth investing in if you can afford to.
Outdoor table tennis tables are slightly more expensive than indoor tables because of the materials and build quality required to make them.
I would generally advise against spending less than £300 on an outdoor table tennis table. In my experience, they aren’t weatherproof, sturdy or durable enough, and the playing quality is poor.
What's the difference between an indoor and outdoor table tennis table?
The main differences between indoor and outdoor table tennis tables are:
- The tabletop material and coating
- The frame material and thickness
Indoor table tennis table tops are made from wood or chipboard, and range from 12mm to 25mm in thickness (I generally recommend at least 16mm).
Outdoor tables have a thinner, melamine resin tabletop of 3mm to 10mm (I recommend at least 4mm).
Outdoor tables also have a weatherproof coating, and often have galvanised (zinc coated) frames and legs to protect them from rust.
What's the best material for outdoor table tennis tables?
The best material for an outdoor table tennis table top is melamine resin laminate.
As for the table frame, generally the best material is a rustproof steel/aluminium/zinc alloy.
You may see table tennis table frames made from galvanised steel – and this is good too. Galvanised steel just means that it has a zinc coating to prevent it from rusting.
Table tennis table manufacturers aim to keep tables as light as possible while being strong, sturdy, durable and rustproof.
Are outdoor table tennis tables good?
Yes, outdoor table tennis tables are great!
The playing quality of outdoor table tennis tables is not as good as indoor tables, but they are more than adequate for most casual players.
And if you get a more expensive outdoor table, the playing quality can be sensational and lives up to that of many indoor tables!
As most people have more space outside and in their gardens, many people prefer outdoor table tennis tables to indoor ones.
What’s the difference between a ping pong table and a table tennis table?
There is no difference between a ping pong table and a table tennis table. The only difference is the name used to describe them.
Generally, in the UK and most of Europe we say ‘table tennis’, whereas ‘ping pong’ is used more commonly in the US.
